Answer:

HNO3(aq) + OH-(aq) → NO3-(aq) + H2O(l)

Explanation:

According to Bronsted-Lowry theory, an acid is a substance that donates a proton (H+) and produces a conjugate base while a base is a molecule or ion which accepts the proton.

An example of Bronsted-Lowry acid and base is Nitric acid, HNO3 and hydroxide ion, OH- respectively as shown in the given reaction.

Thus, the nitric acid acts as an acid by donating a proton to the hydroxide ion which accepts it, thus producing nitrate ion, NO3- as a conjugate base, while OH- produces H2O as a conjugate acid.

How much did one drop of HNO3 cause the pH of water to change?
ankoles [38]
Assuming that there is missing information in this question I’m just going to go ahead and say that it’s lower.

HNO3 (nitric acid) is a very strong acid which should be found on the lower end of the pH scale. While water, on the other hand, is neutral and found at a pH of 7.

So if you add one drop of a strong acid into a neutral solution of 100ml let’s say, one can assume that the pH of that solution is now very low and probably found between 1-3 on a pH scale.

Reminder:

-Acids are found between 1-6 on the pH scale. The lower the number the stronger the acid

-Bases are found between 8-14 on the pH scale. The higher the number the stronger the base

Your body contains vast numbers of carbon atoms. How is it possible that some of these carbons may have been part of the body of
charle [14.2K]
  • Carbon is reused through the carbon cycle.
  • There is carbon in oil, which is made of ancient animals, and this carbon is discharged into the air during ignition.
  • Carbon is then taken in by plants as CO2, which we then eat.

Explanation:

  • Carbon is reused through the carbon cycle. There is carbon in oil, which is made of ancient animals, and this carbon is discharged into the air during ignition. Carbon is then taken in by plants as CO2, which we then eat.
  • Matter carries on as indicated by the guideline of conservation of matter: Under conventional conditions, any matter is neither made nor destroyed but instead is reused again and again. It tends to be changed or recombined, however, it doesn't vanish; everything heads off to someplace.
  • Carbon particles of my body presumably used to be a piece of the body of a prehistoric creature, as chemical components have been utilized and reused by living animals.

2LiClO+KHSO - Li2SO4 + Cl2 + KOOH
agasfer [191]

Answer:

2.5 moles of KOOH are produced.

Explanation:

1)Given data:

Number of moles of KOOH produced = ?

Number of moles of LiClO = 5 mol

Solution:

Chemical equation:

2LiClO +  KHSO₄     →      Li₂SO₄ + Cl₂ + KOOH

now we will compare the moles of KOOH and LiClO.

                 LiClO          :          KOOH

                    2              :              1

                   5               :             1/2×5 = 2.5

2.5 moles of KOOH are produced.

How many electrons would be found in the Ion who’s symbol is I-
Vesnalui [34]

Answer:

54

Explanation:

Given symbol of the element:

                   I⁻

Number of electrons found in an ion with the symbol:

  This is a iodine ion:

         For an atom of iodine:

                   Electrons  = 53

                   Protons  = 53

                   Neutrons  = 74

An ion of iodine is one that has lost or gained electrons.

For this one, we have a negatively charged ion which implies that the number of electrons is 1 more than that of the protons.

  So, number of electrons  = 53 + 1  = 54

The number of electrons in this ion is 54
