Answer:

The correct answer is C. The Chinese government responded to demands for democratic reforms in Tiananmen Square with military force.

Explanation:

After the protests for democratic reforms in Tiananmen Square and the calls of the Government asking for its dissolution, a division of criteria on how to respond to the demonstrators took place within the Communist Party. The decision was to suppress the protests by force, instead of accessing their demands. On May 20, 1989, the government declared martial law and on the night of June 3, sent the tanks and army infantry to Tiananmen Square to dissolve the protest. There were approximately 800 dead and 10,000 wounded.

After the violence, the government undertook a large number of arrests to suppress the instigators of the movement, expelled the foreign press and strictly controlled the coverage of events in the Chinese press. The cruel repression of the protest in Tiananmen Square caused international condemnation of the actions of the Government of the People's Republic of China.

damaskus [11]

Answer:

In 1914, Japan controlled the Japanese Archipelago, the Korean peninsula, and the island of Taiwan. It also had control over the southern half of the Sakhalin Peninsula.

Japan's presence in mainland territory of Asia allowed it to extract raw materials and labor power from this places, to trade more easily with the surrounding areas, and these areas also served it as a base for further territorial expansion, which the country would engage in in the following two decades and until World War II.

lianna [129]

Answer:

D. It agreed to invade Poland at the same time as Germany and split

Polish territory.

Explanation:

The U.S.S.R invaded in relatively close time to Germany, and Poland was split into two sectors, in which the Eastern half was given to the U.S.S.R as a buffer zone, while Germany took control of Western half of Poland.
