Answer:

Cynognathus fossils were important to Wegner's theory because they were found on lands now separated by a wide ocean.

Explanation:

Wegner used the fossil of cynognathus as evidence to prove his continental drift hypothesis. Cynognathus are reptiles which lacked the swimming ability. These reptiles survived in the land before separation in live form along with other organisms surviving side by side.

Later due to certain natural phenomenon these reptiles died and the land got separated by a wide ocean. The fossils of cynognathus reptiles are now found in the lands that are separated by wide ocean.

The answer is mutation of genes.  The mutations were beneficial and gave the individuals of  the population advantage and hence increased their survival. The classic features of birds evolved one by one and gave birds advantage over their dinosaurs counterparts, especially the feature of small size.

Only one amino acid was altered in each mutant TrpA protein. A single amino acid in the TrpA protein could be altered in differe
Nat2105 [25]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

Point mutations arise when a single amino acid base is changed. This could cause some differences in the organism or it may not. Manufactured point mutations in model systems such as yeast offer a powerful tool to examine the function of different amino acids in a protein.

There are three types of point mutations

  1. Silent: these mutations have a single residue change but it does not affect the amino acid that is being coded. There is no change to the wild type
  2. Nonsense: will cause a stop or start or gain of start/stop codon.
  3. Mis-sense: will cause a change of amino acid residue. There are two types of  mis-sense Conservative and non-conservative. The former will cause a change in amino acid base to one that has similar properties while the former will change to an amino acid of different properties often having different traits than the wild type.
