If the economy car’s gas tank holds 12 gallons how far can a driver expect to travel on 6 gallons?

I am guessing 44 because based on what I see, it states that you need to find 264 and divide that by 6 which leads me to 44, but I'm not sure

11 miles because 264 divided by 12 is 22 divide that by 2 because 6 is half of 2 and you get 11
