(A) Water

Neutralization, the chemical reaction combining an acid with a base to produce a neutral solution, produces a salt and water.

Explanation:

Neutralization is a double displacement chemical reaction where an acid reacts with a base to form a salt and water. The reaction only products neutral compounds and is reversible in nature.

Based on Arrhenius' acid and base theory, an acid when dissolved in water produces positive hydrogen (H^+) ion and negative non-metal ions. A base when dissolved in water produces positive metal ions and negative hydroxide (OH^-) ions. When an acid reacts with a base, the hydrogen ions react with the hydroxide ions to form water.

H^+ + OH^- → H_2O

The metal and non-metal ions combine to form a neutral ionic compound, the salt.

Eg: Combination of Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) forms Water (H_2O) and Common salt (NaCl)

Equation:

NaOH + HCl ⇄ NaCl + H_2O

Base + Acid ⇄ Salt + Water

When explaining about structural classifications to a group of students, the instructor discusses the peptides and proteins. The
stepladder [879]

Answer:

There are approximately 200 amino acids.

Explanation:

Proteins are usually larger than peptides. In addition, proteins contains amino acids which are about 50 and more than while the amino acids in peptides are just between 2 and 50. On the other hand, growth hormone which is also known as somatotropin is a type of peptide cell regeneration, growth, and reproduction. The number of amino acids in the growth hormones are approximately 200.

For each set of dilutions (bleach and mouthwash), the first tube contained a 1:11 dilution (0.5 mL of agent was added to 5.0 mL
lidiya [134]

Answer:

Tube 2: 8.26 * 10^-3; Tube 4: 6.83 * 10^-5

Explanation:

In the serial dilutions for MIC test, the volume of nutrient broth in each tube should be equal: 5.0 mL. And the volume of agent in each dilution should also be similar: 0.5 mL.

The serial dilutions was as following:

 • Tube 1: 0.5/5.5
 • Tube 2: 0.5 mL of tube 1 was diluted with 5.0 mL broth. Then, the dilution of tube 2 is (1:11) * (1:11) = (0.5/5.5) * (0.5/5.5) = 1:121 = 8.26 * 10^-3
 • Tube 3: We perform the similar calculation. Thus, the result is 1:1331 = 7.51 * 10^-4
 • Tube 4: It is 1:14641 = 6.83 * 10^-5.
