Answer:

The major issues in the 2008 presidential elections were:

a) The continuing war in Iraq

(c) The economic crisis

Explanation:

During the 2008 elections, the United States was already in a recession and people were tired of 8 years of the Bush era.

The single most important issue was the economic crisis and how a new president could lead the country out of the disaster.

Secondly, the war in Iraq, seen as one of the biggest blunders of the Bush era, was big thorn in the Republican party. There were calls to gradually withdraw troops and bring the US presence in Iraq to an end.

Sure, there were other issues such as Sara Palin not being fit for vice President or Barack Obama's inexperience in international politics. However, for most voters, these were not the 'major' issues on which the elections were being contested.

umka2103 [35]

Answer:

Between 1960 and 2010, the United States population older than 65 more than doubled.

Explanation:

Between 1960 and 2010, the population of the United States over the age of 65 more than doubled. This was the result of three factors. The first of them is the scientific advance in medicine that the country established during this period, which allowed more diseases to be treated, in addition to allowing medical treatments to be more efficient, which promoted greater health in the population, which increased the longevity of citizens.

The second factor was the great economic growth and the decrease in unemployment that the country experienced during this period. This increased the quality of life and allowed citizens to live for more years.

The third and last factor was the reduction in the birth rate that the country experienced due to the more busy daily lives of citizens, the increasing introduction of women into the labor market and the reduction of marriages.

Identify the 2 reasons why the Civil War began and what was the result at the end of the war.
Natali5045456 [20]

Answer:

The Civil War erupted from a variety of long-standing tensions and disagreements about American life and politics. For nearly a century, the people and politicians of the Northern and Southern states had been clashing over the issues that finally led to war: economic interests, cultural values, the power of the federal government to control the states, and, most importantly, slavery in American society.

While some of these differences might have been resolved peacefully through diplomacy, the institution of slavery was not among them.

With a way of life steeped in age-old traditions of white supremacy and a mainly agricultural economy that depended on the labor of enslaved people, the Southern states viewed enslavement as essential to their very survival.
