A balanced equation for the precipitation of barium sulfate after mixing aqueous ammonium sulfate and barium chloride is as follows:

(NH₄)₂SO₄ (aq) + BaCl₂ (aq) ------> BaSO₄(s) + 2NH₄Cl (aq)

As suggested by the equation, 1 molecule of ammonium sulfate reacts with 1 molecule of barium chloride and forms 1 molecule of barium sulfate and 1 molecule of ammonium chloride.

Answer: (NH_4)_2SO_4(aq)+BaCl_2(aq)\rightarrow BaSO_4(s)+2NH_4Cl(aq)

Explanation:

A double displacement reaction is one in which exchange of ions take place. The salts which are soluble in water are designated by symbol (aq) and those which are insoluble in water and remain in solid form are represented by (s) after their chemical formulas.

According to the law of conservation of mass, mass can neither be created nor be destroyed. Thus the mass of products has to be equal to the mass of reactants. The number of atoms of each element has to be same on reactant and product side. Thus chemical equations are balanced.

A balanced equation for the precipitation of barium sulfate after mixing aqueous ammonium sulfate and barium chloride is as follows:

(NH_4)_2SO_4(aq)+BaCl_2(aq)\rightarrow BaSO_4(s)+2NH_4Cl(aq)

What is the IUPAC name for the compound shown?
Anna [14]

Answer:

2,2,3-trimethyl-pentane

Explanation:

The longest chain is 5 carbons so the parent chain is a pentane. There are two methyl groups coming off the second carbon in the chain and 1 methyl group coming off the 3rd carbon in the chain. In total there are 3 methyl groups, hence we get 2,2,3-trimethyl-pentane.

Convert 3.2 moles of ch4 to number of molecules
REY [17]

Answer: 1.93 x 10^24 molecules

Explanation:

CH4 is the chemical formula for methane, the first member of the alkane family.

Based on Avogadro's law:

1 mole of any substance has 6.02 x 10^23 molecule

So, 1 mole of CH4 = 6.02 x 10^23 molecules

3.2 moles of CH4 = Z

To get the value of Z, cross multiply:

(Z x 1 mole) = (6.02 x 10^23 molecule x 3.2 moles)

Z•mole = 19.26 x 10^23 molecules•mole

Divide both sides by 1 mole

Z•mole / 1 mole = 19.26 x 10^23 molecules•mole/ 1mole

Z = 19.26 x 10^23 molecules

Place Z in standard form

Z = 1.93 x 10^24 molecules

Thus, 3.2 moles of ch4 has 1.93 x 10^24 molecules
