Confucian Values include that of filial piety (respect for one's parents/ancestors), humanness (care and/or concern for other humans), and ritual (proper way of doing things).
The structure of the Han Dynasty reflected all three of these core values. The center of Han Dynasty society is the emperor. He was seen as the "father" of society and there was great respect for him from his subjects ("children"). Within the government there was a "board of ritual'. The emperor himself participated many annual rituals in which not only he was worshiped, but past emperors and the heavens were worshiped as well. Confucius believed that when the government and its leaders acted respectfully and properly, society would follow suit. The emperor and his subjects following ritual showed humanness or a respect for the right way of life.
