Because some people think Timbuktu is the most remote place on earth.Timbuktu is located in the presents day Republic of Mali at the edge of the Sahara dessert.
"The headright system was originally created in 1618 in Jamestown, Virginia. It was used as a way to attract new settlers to the region and address the labor shortage.
