L = X
w = X - 8
P = 52 cm

P = 2l + 2w
52 = 2(X) + 2(X - 8)
52 = 2x + 2x - 16
52 + 16 = 4x
68 = 4x
68/4 = 4x/4
17 = X.

The length of the rectangle is 17 cm.

W = X - 8
W = 17 - 8
W = 9 cm.

The width of the rectangle is 9 cm.

Which equations have the same value of x as Two-thirds (6 x + 12) = negative 24? Select two options.
olga2289 [7]
2/3(6x+12) = -24 can be simplified to
4x+8 = -24 so the first answer is right and if you further simplify it by subtracting the 8 you get
4x = -32
Which is the other right answer.

(-20,-4), (-12, -10)<br> find the slope
love history [14]

Answer:

-6/8

Step-by-step explanation:

The slope formula is y2-y1

                                   ____

                                     x2-x1

In the ordered pair (-20,4)

-20 is x1 the first x and 4 is x1

-12 is the x2 i.e. 2nd point and -10 is y2 i.e. 2nd point on y axis

so we plug in the value to the formula -10-(-4)      two negatives become +

                                                                _____

                                                                -12-(-20)

                                                         so -10+4            -6                6

                                                                 ____   =    ___  =   -      _

                                                                  -12+20      8                   8

(remember  you subtract and the signs are different you subtract and use the sign of larger number)

(V+5)(-1/9)=6 how do u solve this
Brrunno [24]

Answer:

v= -59

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the equal sign from both sides of the equation : (v+5)*(-1/9)-(6)=0

Rearrange:

Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the equal sign from both sides of the equation :

                    (v+5)*(-1/9)-(6)=0

Step by step solution :

STEP

1

:

           1

Simplify   —

           9

Equation at the end of step

1

:

                  1

 ((v + 5) • (0 -  —)) -  6  = 0

                  9

STEP

2

:

Equation at the end of step 2

 (-v - 5)

 ———————— -  6  = 0

    9

STEP

3

:

Rewriting the whole as an Equivalent Fraction

3.1   Subtracting a whole from a fraction

Rewrite the whole as a fraction using  9  as the denominator :

        6     6 • 9

   6 =  —  =  —————

        1       9

Equivalent fraction : The fraction thus generated looks different but has the same value as the whole

Common denominator : The equivalent fraction and the other fraction involved in the calculation share the same denominator

STEP

4

:

Pulling out like terms

4.1     Pull out like factors :

  -v - 5  =   -1 • (v + 5)

Adding fractions that have a common denominator :

4.2       Adding up the two equivalent fractions

Add the two equivalent fractions which now have a common denominator

Combine the numerators together, put the sum or difference over the common denominator then reduce to lowest terms if possible:

(-v-5) - (6 • 9)     -v - 59

————————————————  =  ———————

       9                9

STEP

5

:

Pulling out like terms :

5.1     Pull out like factors :

  -v - 59  =   -1 • (v + 59)

Equation at the end of step

5

:

 -v - 59

 ———————  = 0

    9

STEP

6

:

When a fraction equals zero :

6.1    When a fraction equals zero ...

Where a fraction equals zero, its numerator, the part which is above the fraction line, must equal zero.

Now,to get rid of the denominator, Tiger multiplys both sides of the equation by the denominator.

Here's how:

 -v-59

 ————— • 9 = 0 • 9

   9

Now, on the left hand side, the  9  cancels out the denominator, while, on the right hand side, zero times anything is still zero.

The equation now takes the shape :

  -v-59  = 0

Solving a Single Variable Equation:

6.2      Solve  :    -v-59 = 0

Add  59  to both sides of the equation :

                     -v = 59

Multiply both sides of the equation by (-1) :  v = -59
