Answer:

30 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the following :

Rita's tank contains =7.8 gallons of water

Filling rate = 2.1 gallons per minute

Wendy's tank contains = 97.8 gallons

Drain rate =. 0.9 gallons per minute

After how many minutes will both contain the same amount of water.

Let number of minutes = m

Rita is filling :

Initial + increase

7.8 + 2.1m ----(1)

Wendy is emptying:

Initial - decrease

97.8 - 0.9m - - - (2)

Equate both ;

(1) = (2)

7.8 + 2.1m = 97.8 - 0.9m

2.1m + 0.9m = 97.8 - 7.8

3m = 90

m = 90 / 3

m = 30 minutes

Simplify (1-√3)(⅓+√3) leaving your answer in the form p+q√3
Mars2501 [29]

Answer:

\frac{-8 +2\sqrt{3} }{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

When working with surds we need to take note of the roots present there.

To expand this equation we can do it the following way noting that √3 X √3 = 3

<em></em>

<em>Expanding (1-√3)(⅓+√3)</em>

1 X 1/3 = 1/3

1 X √3 = √3

-√3 X 1/3 =-√3/3

√3 X √3 = 3

hence, expanding the equation, we have

1/3 + √3 -√3/3 + 3

We can simply group the like terms and add them up.

[1/3 +3] +[√3-√3/3]

10/3 + \frac{2\sqrt{3} }{3}

= \frac{-8 +2\sqrt{3} }{3}

The given line passes through the points (-4,-3) and (4,
Harlamova29_29 [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

first we gotta find the slope of the first line

(-4,-3),(4,1)

slope = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = (1- (-3) / (4 - (-4) = (1 + 3) / (4 + 4) = 4/8 = 1/2

so the slope is 1/2.....so we are looking for a line that is perpendicular....perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes...all that means is flip the slope and change the sign....so the slope we need is :

1/2....flip it....2/1.....change the sign....-2.....we need a -2 slope

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

slope = -2

(-4,3)...x1 = -4 and y1 = 3

now sub

y - 3 = -2(x - (-4) =

y - 3 = -2(x + 4) <=====
