<span>A nephron is the basic structural and
functional unit of the kidney. Its functions are to regulate the
concentration of water and soluble substances like sodium salts by
filtering the blood, reabsorbing what is needed and excreting the rest
as urine. A nephron eliminates wastes from the body, regulates blood
volume and blood pressure, controls levels of electrolytes and
metabolites, and regulates blood pH. Its functions are vital to life and
are regulated by the endocrine system by hormones such as antidiuretic
hormone, aldosterone, and parathyroid hormone. In humans, a normal
kidney contains 800,000 to 1.5 million nephrons, we have so many because
we need them

Alveoli is the smallest part of the respiratory system. The best description about it is “they are the smallest tubes in the respiratory system”.
EXPLANATION
Alveoli’s function is to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide. Thus, it becomes an important part of the respiratory system. Alveoli’s shape is like tiny balloon-shaped. Its location is at the very end of the respiratory tree. It is arranged in clusters which are throughout the human’s lungs. Alveoli also can be said as the endpoint of the respiratory system. Without alveoli, a human cannot breathe normally.
Due to the important function of alveoli, here are some medical conditions that people have to be aware of:
• Emphysema
• Pneumonia
• Tuberculosis
• Bronchioloalveolar carcinoma
• Acute respiratory distress syndrome
• Respiratory distress syndrome
• Pulmonary edema
We also have to be aware of the effect of tobacco and smoking because these things can affect the function of alveoli. Tobacco and smoking cause the damage, right down to the molecular level. It will disrupt our body’s ability to repair itself. In a serious condition, it will lead to an infection or trauma. The effect of tobacco and smoking also cause a risk to human’s lungs. The damage of the alveoli will cause human’s lungs exposed to the toxic fumes.
