So we need to find the square root of 121.  so in the first box, you put 121.  Now what number multiplied times itself equals 121? 10 x 10 = 100, and 12 x 12 = 144.  So 121 is 11 x 11.  11 goes in the 2nd box.

A family plans to have the hardwood floors in their square dining room re-finished, and new baseboards installed. The cost of re
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

Dimension of room = 18 foot x 18 foot

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the square room is of side a foot,

The cost of re-finishing the hardwood floors is $2.25 per square foot and the cost of purchasing and installing the new baseboards $14.5 per linear foot

Total cost is  $1773.

Cost for re-finishing the hardwood floors = Area x 2.25

Area = a²

Cost for re-finishing the hardwood floors = 2.25 a²

Cost of purchasing and installing the new baseboards = Perimeter x 14.5

Perimeter = 4a

Cost of purchasing and installing the new baseboards = 4a x 14.5 = 58 a

Total cost = Cost for re-finishing the hardwood floors + Cost of purchasing and installing the new baseboards

1773 = 2.25 a² + 58a

2.25 a² + 58a - 1773 = 0

a = 18 or a = -43.77(not possible)

Dimension of room = 18 foot x 18 foot

What is the volume of a hemisphere with a radius of 9.8in, rounded to the nearest tenth of a cubic inch?
Fofino [41]

<u>Given</u>:

Given that the radius of the hemisphere is 9.8 inches.

We need to determine the volume of the hemisphere.

<u>Volume of the hemisphere:</u>

The volume of the hemisphere can be determined using the formula,

V=\frac{2}{3} \pi r^3

where r is the radius of the hemisphere.

Substituting r = 9.8 in the above formula, we get;

V=\frac{2}{3} (3.14)(9.8)^3

Simplifying, we get;

V=\frac{2}{3} (3.14)(941.192)

V=\frac{5910.69}{3}

V=1970.23

Rounding off to the nearest tenth, we get;

V=1970.2 \ in^3

Thus, the volume of the hemisphere is 1970.2 cubic inches.
