Mr. Brown is the first white Christian missionary in Umuofia and Mbanta. He is a patient, kind, and understanding man. He is also open-minded and willing to make an effort to respect and understand the Igbo beliefs. Mr. Brown restrains overeager members of his church from provoking clan members; evidence that supports his shared belief with the Igbo people in the value of peaceful relations. He befriends many great men of the clan who begin to listen to and understand his message. He also discusses religious beliefs with Akunna, a clan leader of Umuofia. Neither man gives up his belief, but they learn about each other's faith and gain respect for one another.

Answer:

Mr. Brown is a white Christian who is the first to show up in Okonkwo's village. Mr. Brown is a little different from the rest of the other missionaries because he makes an effort to understand the Igbo and their culture. Mr. Brown is openminded and holds back some of his members from provoking the clansmen with their teachings. On the opposite end of the pendulum, Okonkwo is hardened toward the missionaries because they seem weak in his eyes. Okonkwo does not take a clam approach to the missionaries and their teachings like Mr. Brown does. Okonkwo will not listen to the Christians and he immediately hates them whereas Mr. Brown makes an effort to understand and fellowship the clan. They are two polar opposites and this could be yet another example of Achebe using foil to give us a better understanding of the characters.

During the Kavadi ritual in the nation of Mauritius, participants engage in either low-ordeal rituals or severe-ordeal rituals,
Hatshy [7]

Answer:

Differences in donations between low-ordeal and high-ordial groups

Explanation:

When researchers allowed participants to donate to their temple, they found that the difference in donations regarding the low-ordeal group and the high-ordeal group in which performers and observers are combined was important; with regard to high-ordeal performers and observers such a difference was not that meaningful. In conclusion such results suggest that there was a strong linkage between the high-ordeal ritual and larger levels of generosity when performers and observers were involved than in the low-ordeal ritual.

Why was japan in chaos at the end of the fifteenth century?
Alexus [3.1K]

The answer is the centralized power of the shogunate had collapsed. The Late Tokugawa Shogunate was the era between 1853 and 1867, through which Japan finished its nationalist foreign policy named sakoku and restructured from a feudal shogunate to the Meiji government. The chief philosophical and partisan parties during this era were separated into the pro-imperialist and the shogunate force. Though these two groups were the most noticeable influences, many other groups tried to use the disorder of the Bakumatsu period to grab individual power.
