It is called Dissociative disorders and it is characterized by disturbances in consciousness, memory, identity, and perception. There are three kinds of dissociative disorders which are dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, and dissociative identity disorder.
Dissociation is also considered as a break in the manner in which information is handled by the mind. It brings a feeling of disconnection from the surroundings, disconnect from memories, feelings, and even thoughts. Dissociation usually affects a person's sense of identity and how time is perceived.
