This is actually a very simple problem when you understand how to do it.

First, I would add the 12 to both sides.
Equation would now look like this x/6=24
Then I would do the inverse (opposite) of division which is multiplication.
So multiply 6 to both sides so we can get the x alone. 6*12=144
Now x is alone, and X = 144.

Decide whether y is a function of x.<br> y=-3x-4
Nataly [62]
Yes, for every value of x, there is only one value of y. This means that y is a function of x.

Can someone solve this for me?
Helga [31]

well, we know it's a rectangle, so that means the sides JK = IL and JI = KL, so

\stackrel{JK}{3x+21}~~ = ~~\stackrel{IL}{6y}\implies 3(x+7)=6y\implies x+7=\cfrac{6y}{3} \\\\\\ x+7=2y\implies \boxed{x=2y-7} \\\\[-0.35em] ~\dotfill\\\\ \stackrel{JI}{6y-6}~~ = ~~\stackrel{KL}{2x+20}\implies 6(y-1)=2(x+10)\implies \cfrac{6(y-1)}{2}=x+10 \\\\\\ 3(y-1)=x+10\implies 3y-3=x+10\implies \stackrel{\textit{substituting from the 1st equation}}{3y-3=(2y-7)+10} \\\\\\ 3y-3=2y+3\implies y-3=3\implies \blacksquare~~ y=6 ~~\blacksquare ~\hfill \blacksquare~~ \stackrel{2(6)~~ - ~~7}{x=5} ~~\blacksquare

$70.00 at 5% for 2 years
aleksandrvk [35]

Answer:

$7

Step-by-step explanation:

Hey there

to solve this kind of problem we use the formula:

<h3>\frac{p * t * r}{100} </h3><h3>if we solve it :</h3>

First, converting R percent to r a decimal

r = R/100 = 5%/100 = 0.05 per year,

then, solving our equation

I = 70 × 0.05 × 2 = 7

I = $ 7.00

The simple interest accumulated

on a principal of $ 70.00

at a rate of 5% per year

for 2 years is $ 7.00.
