Actually it's
y = \frac{x+4}{3}

it's a line. so 2 points is enough

choose x so that x+4 would be divisible by 3 :)
1) x = 2, then y = (2+6) / 3 = 2 - sketch point (2,2)
2) x = 5, then y = (5+4) / 3 = 3 - sketch point (5,3)
3) line goes though those points. use ruler :)

Find b, if a is (5, -3) and m (-4, 2) is the midpoint of ab
Dennis_Churaev [7]
We were given the points, A(5,-3) and the midpoint of AB, M(-4,2).

Let point B have coordinates (c , d).

Then the midpoint of A(5, -3) and B(c,d)

= ( \frac{5 + c}{2}    \:  \:  \:  \frac{ - 3 + d}{2} )
Now let us compare to the given midpoint M(-4, 2).

We can then write the following equations for the corresponding coordinates.

Comparing x coordinates, we have;

\frac{ 5 + c}{2}  =  - 4
Multiplying both sides of the equation by 2 gives,

5+c = 2(-4)

Simplifying the right hand side gives,

5 + c = -8

Grouping like terms, we have,

c = -8 - 5

This simplifies to,
c = -13

Comparing y coordinates we have,

\frac{ - 3 + d}{2}  = 2
Multiplying through by 2 gives,

-3 + d = 2(2)

This means that,

-3 + d = 4

Making the subject we have,

d = 4+3

This implies that,

d = 7

Hence the coordinates of B are (-13,7).

How to factor 18a2+6a5-8a3
Zielflug [23.3K]

Answer:

2a^2(3a^3-4a+9)

Step-by-step explanation:

You could change the equation to this: 6a^3a^2-8a^1a^2+18a^2

*This is the exact same as 18a^2+6a^5-8a^3

You can continue to break this down until you get:

2*3a^3a^2-2*4a^1a^2+2*9a^2

*This too = 18a^2+6a^5-8a^3

With this new equation, you can cancel out the common term: 2a^2

You come up with my answer.

<em>Hope this helps!!</em>

The numbers that are 0.6 unit from 1.3 on the number line are 0.7 and 1.9

<h3>How to determine the numbers that are 0.6 unit from 1.3 on the number line?</h3>

The number is given as:

Number = 1.3

The distance is given as:

Distance = 0.6

The numbers that are 0.6 unit from 1.3 on the number line are represented as:

Number = 1.3 ± 0.6

Expand

Number  = (1.3 - 0.6, 1.3 + 0.6)

Evaluate

Number  = (0.7, 1.9)

Hence, the numbers that are 0.6 unit from 1.3 on the number line are 0.7 and 1.9
