Answer: The correct option is Short-term environmental changes immediately affect organisms in the environment

Explanation:

Environmental changes which occurs over a period of few months to few years is termed as short term environmental changes. The changes may be created by humans or a natural process. The short term environmental changes are triggered by natural catastrophic events like tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, cyclones, asteroid impacts. These type of effects has impact on the organisms living in that zone.

The short term environmental changes that occurs due to humans are destruction of habitat, construction of roads, deforestation, air and ground pollution, harvesting of natural resources like overhunting and overfishing.

All these activities destroy the organisms living in the ecosystem, and pollution also destroys the habitat these organisms live in.

On the basis of the above explanation is:

Short-term environmental changes immediately affect organisms in the environment.

Answer:

By researching, I would think that the answer is D. Ice crystals melt as they fall through a warm layer of air and then refreeze into small ice pellets as they pass through a colder layer of air.

Explanation:

During precipitation formation, if temperatures are at or below freezing, 0°C (32°F), at cloud level, water in the air freezes into ice crystals, and the crystals stick together to make snow. The snow starts to fall, and if the air column is freezing cold all the way down from the clouds to the ground, the precipitation stays frozen. It simply falls as snow.

Sometimes, however, a temperature inversion occurs. Normally, the temperature decreases with increasing altitude. A temperature inversion is when a layer of warm air intrudes between the ground and the clouds.

Under these conditions, when the falling snow reaches the layer of warm air, it melts. Then it hits the layer of cold air just above Earth’s surface and refreezes. This all happens very fast, and the result is tiny ice pellets called sleet.

You are already familiar with the fact that different organisms often exhibit common adaptations that help them succeed in a giv
zavuch27 [327]

Answer:

*Sensory adaptation* is the common adaptation in all three sense. Sensory adaptation is the process in which changes in the sensitivity of sensory receptors occur in relation to the stimulus. All senses are believed to experience sensory adaptation.

Explanation:

This adaptation is shared as well as used differently as explained below.

1) Hearing+balance :In terms of hearing, our ears adapt to loud sound as it hits the small bones located in the inner ear. The loud sound leads the inner ear bone/s to contract. This contraction causes the reduction or delay of transmission of sound vibrations to the inner ear. Detection of the vibrations follows. However, this process of auditory adaptation usually does not work very well with loud sounds that are sudden or instantaneous. Examples of these sounds are gun shots or explosions

2)Smell :Low concentrations of several chemicals present in the air can be detected by the sensory receptors in the nose. These chemicals that we quickly detect include those in perfumes or air fresheners

Brown hair is dominant over red hair. What will the genotypes and phenotypes of the offspring of a cross between a homozygous br
Artemon [7]

Answer:

1) In the first step, we need to predict the possible alleles for the cross. The dominant allele will be written with a capital letter. The recessive allele will be written with a small letter. Hence, the allele for brown hair colour will be B and the allele for red hair colour will be b.

2) In the second step, we need to determine the genotype of the parents. The genotype of the homozygous dominant parent will be BB. The genotype of the heterozygous brown hair colour will be Bb.

3) The punnet square for cross between these parents can be shown as follows:

        B b

B BB Bb

B BB Bb

4) In the fourth step, lets determine the phenotype of the children. The phenotype of all the offsprings born will be brown hair colour.

5) The genotype from the punnet square shows that there is a 50% chance that the offsprings will be heterozygous dominant (Bb) for brown hair colour and their will be a 50% chance that the child born will be homozygous dominant (BB).
