Weathering occurs in three ways such as the physical weathering, chemical weathering and biological weathering. Physical weathering is the process of alternate heating and cooling of the rocks which includes block disintegration, granular disintegration and exfoliation, it is otherwise known as mechanical weathering. Solution, hydration, oxidation, hydrolysis and carbonation are chemical weathering. Breakdown of rocks due to plants and animals leads to breakdown of rocks is called biological weathering.
