The institution of education has been changing and evolving from a long time. It has come from being a private enterprise to a universal right.

During the colonial era, the general picture was that parents teach their children and larger towns to provide a primary school where children could learn how to read, write, and religion. however, schooling was not necessary for the colonies, and only about en percent of colonial children, typically the wealthiest went to school. In the mid-nineteenth century, a demand for free, compulsory education had erupted. However, it should be noted that there are other aspects such as gender, race, migrants, etc which have greatly varied in public education policies.
