And remember also that in fighting against Man, we must not come to resemble him. Even when you have conquered him, do not adopt

his vices. No animal must ever live in a house, or sleep in a bed, or wear clothes, or drink alcohol, or smoke tobacco, or touch money, or engage in trade. All the habits of Man are evil. And, above all, no animal must ever tyrannize over his own kind. Weak or strong, clever or simple, we are all brothers. No animal must ever kill any other animal. All animals are equal. –Animal Farm, George Orwell

Answer:

George Orwell wrote an allegory of the Russian Revolution, and used the character of Old Major to explore the philosophy of Karl Marx. Old Major states many of Marx’s ideas, such as a belief in equality and in the elimination of class divisions. Both Old Major and Marx also advocate for rebellion to end the oppression of workers. Marx says that the means of production should be held in common. Similarly, Old Major believes that the animals could run the farm together. The main difference between them is that Marx writes about people, while Major speaks about animals. Both call for a more just society.

Answer:

Animal Farm is an allegorical novel written by George Orwell. The Old Major represents Karl Marx in the novel.

Explanation:

In the "Animal Farm", Old major had beliefs similar to Karl Marx.

Karl Marx was a philosopher and sociologist born 1818. The Russian revolution which broke in 1971, was based upon the beliefs of Karl Marx.

The Old Major's beliefs were similar to that of Karl Marx because both Marx and the Old Major believed in equality.

<em>"All animals are equal"</em> (Quoted text from "Animal Farm").

They believed in the elimination of class division. Marx wrote about this in his "Communist Manifesto" and the beliefs of the Old Major were delivered in his speech "Big Barn".

<em>"above all, no animal must ever tyrannize over his own kind. Weak or strong, clever or simple, we are all brothers."</em>

The contrast that can be found in the Old Major and Karl Marx was that Marx spoke about human society whereas the Major spoke about the betterment of animal society.

It's a metaphor.

To help you understand why, here's the definitions of both:

Simile: it's a <span>figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing with another thing of a different kind, it's used to make writing seem more vivid.

Metaphor: this is also a</span><span> figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.
