Answer: The two numbers that round to 35.4 when rounded to the nearest tenth are 35.38 and 35.41.

Step-by-step explanation: We are given to find two numbers that round to 35.4 when rounded to the nearest tenth.

We know that

the numbers that will round to 35.4 will lie from 35.35 to 35.44.

That is, the numbers are 35.35, 35.36, 35.37, 35.38, 35.39, 35.41, 35.42, 35.43 and 35.44.

Therefore, two of the numbers are 35.38 and 35.41.

Thus, the two numbers that round to 35.4 when rounded to the nearest tenth are 35.38 and 35.41.

A bridge underpass in the shape of an elliptical arch, that is, half of an ellipse, is 40 feet wide and 13 feet high. An eight f
Liula [17]

Answer:

the truck should not be higher than 12.934 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

if the bridge underpass is half of an ellipse , then the arch function will be B(x,y) such that

x²/a² + y²/b² = 1 , for x≥0 and y≥0 and y=0 for x≤0

where x= width , y= height

for

a= length of the bridge underpass = 40 ft

b= height of the bridge underpass = 13 ft

x²/(40 ft)² + y²/(13 ft)² = 1

that represents all the points of the arch

the maximum height is reached when the truck touches the arch, then

for a point x= 4 ft wide , since 8 foot wide represents 4 foot to the left (x=-4) and 4 foot to the right (x=4)

then

(4 ft)²/(40 ft)² + y²/(13 ft)² = 1

1/100 - y²/(13 ft)² = 1

y/13 ft = √(1-1/100) = 3/10*√11

y= 3/10*√11 * 13 ft = 12.934 ft

y= 12.934 ft

then the truck should not be higher than 12.934 ft

Please assist me with the trapezoid problems
White raven [17]

Problem 4

a)

MR = AG is a true statement because MARG is an isosceles trapezoid. The diagonals of any isosceles trapezoid are always the same length.

-------------------------

b)

MA = GR is false. Parallel sides in a trapezoid are never congruent (otherwise you'll have a parallelogram).

-------------------------

c)

MR and AG do NOT bisect each other. The diagonals bisect each other only if you had a parallelogram.

=================================================

Problem 5

a)

LC = AJ (nonparallel sides of isosceles trapezoid are always the same length)

x^2 = 25

x = sqrt(25)

x = 5

-------------------------

b)

LU = 25

UC = 25 because point U cuts LC in half

LC = LU+UC = 25+25 = 50

AJ = LC = 50 (nonparallel sides of isosceles trapezoid are always the same length)

AS = (1/2)*AJ

AS = (1/2)*50

AS = 25

-------------------------

c)

angle LCA = 71

angle CAJ = 71 (base angles of isosceles trapezoid are always congruent)

(angleAJL)+(angleCAJ) = 180

(angleAJL)+(71) = 180

angle AJL = 180-71

angle AJL = 109
