if you have amanda is x and jake is 3 times amandas age....and there mother is 4 times jakes age..and there sum of ages is ....its these kind of problems. so you have a step by step process to solve them...(but you can do it without and skip a few steps when doing it )

2) Define (define what varables you are using
3) Do (Set up equation and solve)
4)Decide (chekc ur answer)
