Ahat [919]

Complete Question

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, citizens remain unemployed for an average of 15.9 weeks before finding their next job (June, 2008). Suppose you want to show that Louisiana has been effective in getting their unemployed back to work sooner. You take a random sample of 50 citizens who were unemployed six months earlier and ask them to report the duration. You find that the average time spent unemployed was 13.4 weeks with a sample standard deviation of the time unemployed is 6.7 weeks.

1 Which of the following statements is the correct alternative hypothesis?

2 The test statistic for testing the hypothesis is

a. -2.64

b. -2.32

c. -2.11

d. -1.28

e. none of these are correct

Answer:

1

 The  alternative hypothesis  H_a  :  \mu < 15.9

2

The  test statistics z =  -2.64

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question we are told that

     The population  mean value for time  citizens remain unemployed is  \mu = 15.9 \ weeks

     The  sample size is  n =  50

     The  sample standard deviation is  6.7 weeks.

      The  sample mean value for time  citizens remain unemployed is  \mu = 15.9 \ weeks

     The  null hypothesis is  H_o  :  \mu \ge 15.9

      The  alternative hypothesis  H_a  :  \mu < 15.9

Generally test statistics is mathematically represented as

       z =  \frac{ \= x  - \mu }{ \frac{s}{\sqrt{n} } }

=>    z =  \frac{13.4 - 15.9}{\frac{6.7}{\sqrt{50}}}

=>     z =  -2.64

NEED ANSWERS ASAP, 100 POINTS! There are twenty classes at each of two middle schools. The number of students in each class at e
DiKsa [7]

Note: You missed to add the dot plots chart. As I found the chart after a little research. Thus, I am attaching it and based on that dot plot chart I am solving the question which anyways would clear you concept.

Answer:

'There are about 2 more students in each class at Oak Middle School than at Poplar Middle School' is the correct statement.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the diagram, it is clear that

The data set containing Poplar Middle School:

20   20   20   21   21   21   21   21   22   22   22   22   22   22   22   23   23   23   23   24

The mean of a data set is the sum of the terms divided by the total number of terms. Using math notation we have:

\mu = 435/20

  =\frac{87}{4}

   = 21.75

The data set containing Oak Middle School:

20   21   21   22   22   23   23   23   23   24   24   24   25   25   26   26   27   27   28   29

The mean of a data set is the sum of the terms divided by the total number of terms. Using math notation we have:

\mu = 483/20

   =24.15

So, the difference in mean will be:

                                            24.15 - 21.75 = 2.4

Therefore, 'there are about 2 more students in each class at Oak Middle School than at Poplar Middle School' is the correct statement.

Jim drove 204 miles in 4 hours. If he can keep the same pace how long will it take him to drive 918 miles
SSSSS [86.1K]
18 hours.

Proportions and stuff.

\frac{204}{4} = \frac{918}{x}

Cross multiply,

204x = 918 * 4

204x = 3672
/204      /204
x = 18

18 hours.

The table shows the temperature (y) at different altitudes (x).
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer/Step-by-step explanation:

2. Using two pairs of values, (0, 59) and (2,000, 51),

slope (m) = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1} = \frac{51 - 59}{2,000 - 0} = \frac{-8}{2,000} = -\frac{1}{250}

3. The y-intercept is the value of y when x = 0. Thus, x = 0, when y = 59. Therefore,

y-intercept (b) = 59

4. To write an equation in slope-intercept form, simply substitute m = -¹/250, and b = 59, in y = mx + b

✅y = -\frac{1}{250}x + 59

5. Substitute x = 5,000 in y = -\frac{1}{250}x + 59.

y = -\frac{1}{250}(5,000) + 59

y = -20 + 59

y = 39

At an altitude of 5,000 ft, temperature would be 39°F
