Take note that they spent $18 afterwards having $28 on the card so they're spending money off the card so...

x-18=28

would be the equation for this and to solve do the following.

First add 18 to both sides making the equation.

x=46

Hi Laki092,

Your Question:

Jon used a gift card to pay for an $18 shirt.The remaining balance on the card is $28.write and solve an equation that represents this.

Solution:

Find out how much he has in the gift card (g):

18 + 28 = g

18 + 28 = 46

Answer:

He started with 46 dollars in his gift card.

He ended with 28 dollars in his gift card.

28 + 18 = g

g - 18 = 28

Make a the subject of a2+b2=c2
wel

Answer:

a=\sqrt{c^2-b^2

⇒ a=\sqrt{(c+b)(c-b)}        [Factorized form]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given expression:

a^2+b^2=c^2

We need to make a the subject.

In order to do that we need to solve the expression for a in terms of b and c

We have,

a^2+b^2=c^2

Subtracting both sides by b^2

a^2+b^2-b^2=c^2-b^2

a^2=c^2-b^2

Taking square root both sides in order to remove square of a

\sqrt{a^2}=\sqrt{c^2-b^2}

a=\sqrt{c^2-b^2

The difference of squares can be factorized and written  as:

a=\sqrt{(c+b)(c-b)}    [difference of squares x^2-y^2=(x+y)(x-y) ]

In ABC, centroid D is on median AM. AD = x + 5 and DM = 3x – 5. Find AM
Sindrei [870]

Answer

Find out the value of AM.

To prove

As given

In ABC,

centroid D is on median AM.

AD = x + 5 and DM = 3x – 5.

By using the centroid property

The centroid divides each median in a ratio of 2:1.

Thus D divide the median AM  in a ratio of 2:1.

Therefore

(AD) = 2DM

(x + 5) = 6x – 10

5x = 15

x = \frac{15}{5}

x = 3

Now

AM = 3+ 5

     = 8 unit

DM = 3 × 3- 5

      = 4 unit

AM = AD + DM

      = 8 + 4

AM   = 12 unit

Therefore the AM is 12 unit.
