An orange roughy fish eats squid and small fish. It also is eaten by predators like dolphins and sharks. Where would the orange

roughy most likely appear on a food web?
1. It is a primary producer because it provides food for the dolphins and sharks.

2. It is a tertiary consumer because most of the things it eats are secondary consumers.

3. It is a secondary consumer because it eats two types of things.

4. It is a primary consumer because it has both predators and prey.

The correct answer is 2. It is a tertiary consumer because most of the things it eats are secondary consumers.

Explanation:

In food chains, there are different levels this includes primary producers such as plants that produce own energy; primary consumers that are those feeding on primary producers and are herbivores; secondary consumers that feed on primary consumers and are carnivores; and tertiary consumers that feed on primary and secondary consumers.

In the case presented, the orange fish can be classified as a tertiary consumer because it eats squids that commonly feed on small fishes or shrimps and therefore squids are a secondary consumer; also the orange fish feeds on small fish that are either primary or secondary consumers. Besides this, the orange fish is eaten by dolphins and sharks which are at the top of the food chain and are quaternary consumers.

Explain the mechanisms for movement of materials across cellular membranes anatomy
trapecia [35]
There are 2 types of transport mechanisms that involve the movement of materials across the cellular membrane:

1. Passive Transport Mechanisms which is the movement of materials that does not require energy. Instead the movement relies on the permeability of the cell. Under this are three kinds of passive transport mechanisms:

a. Simple Diffusion:
- the movement of materials from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration. No external energy is necessary for the movement. The materials supply the energy themselves.

b. Facilitated Diffusion:
- This differs from simple diffusion because the movement is facilitated by proteins that make up the structure of the membrane. The proteins include channel proteins that allow ions and smaller molecules to cross the membrane. The other protein are the carrier proteins, which bind to materials like sugar molecules and move it across the membrane.

c. Osmosis:
- This is the diffusion of water across the membrane. Osmosis moves water from regions where there are more water molecules of water per volume to regions where there are less water molecules per volume.

2. Active transport on the other hand is a movement mechanism that requires energy. It uses the energy to send materials against the direction it is coming from through simple diffusion. This mechanism is used in a way to keep unwanted ions or other materials out of the cell.

What would happen to a single-celled life form if the information handed down to offspring was always copied perfectly? (Select
Alja [10]

For a single-celled life form that the information handed down to offspring, we would see every generation would be a carbon copy of the one single-celled life form. This is further explained below.

To find the completion we need to know more about a single-celled life

What would happen to a single-celled life form if the information handed down to offspring was always copied perfectly?

Generally, A single-celled organism, also known as a unicellular organism, is an organism made up of only one cell.

How does the plasma membrane of a cell compare with the membrane in the U-shaped tube?
Lilit [14]
