Two farmers pay a total rent of $140 for a pasture. The first farmer placed $4 oxen in the pasture, and the second farmer placed

$30 sheep in the pasture. The farmers split the rent based on the proportion of the pasture eaten by their own animals that month. How much should the first farmer pay, if 1 ox eats as much as 10 sheep in a month?

given that 1 ox eats as much as 10 sheep:

4 oxen = 40 sheep

therefore,

first farmer:  the equivalent of 40 sheep

second farmer:  30 sheep

that means 30+40 = 70 animals eating

$140 ÷ 70 = $2

so it is $2 per eat

2 x 40 = $80 for the first farmer's oxen

2 x 30 = $60 for the second farmer's sheep

What is the solution to the system of two equations shown?
Nadya [2.5K]

The solution of the given system of equation is x = -3 and y = 4 respectively.

<h3>What is a system of linear equations?</h3>

A system of linear equations can be defined as a number of equations needed to solve the equations. For n number of variables n number of equations are required.

The given system of equations is as,

y = 4x + 16                   (1)

y = −2x − 2                  (2)

In order to solve them, substitute equation (2) into (1) as follows,

4x + 16 = −2x − 2

=> 4x + 2x = -2 - 16

=> 6x = -18

=> x  = -3

Then, y = -2 × -3 - 2 = 4

Hence, the solution of the given system of equation is x = -3 and y = 4.

What is the effect on the graph of the function f(x) =
zlopas [31]
<h2>Explanation:</h2><h2></h2>

It occurs a Nonrigid Transformation. This type of transformations causes a distortion or a change in the shape of the original graph. In this case occurs a vertical stretch because the factor is greater than 1, that is:

9>1

The general form of this transformation is:

g(x)=cf(x) \\ \\ \\ If \ c>1 \rightarrow \text{vertical stretch} \\ \\  If \ 0

So in this case:

g(x)=9f(x)=9(5x)=45x

Reduce the fraction to lowest terms. Do not use spaces in your answer. y+5 / 2y + 10
Tcecarenko [31]

Assuming 5/2y is the fraction,

= y + 5/2y + 10

You can divide the entire fraction (both numerator and denominator) by 2

= y + 2.5/y + 10

That is as far simplified, or 'lowest terms' as it gets.
