Answer:

38 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The speed of Doreen = 9 miles per hour,

Since,

Speed = \frac{Distance}{Time}\implies Distance = Speed\times Time

So, the distance covered by Doreen in 2 hours = 9 × 2 = 18 miles,

∵  Doreen speed is 90% of Irena's speed.

I.e. 90% of  Irana's speed = 9 miles per hour

\implies \frac{90}{100}\times \text{ Irana's speed}=9

\implies \text{Irana's speed}=\frac{900}{90}=10\text{ miles per hour},

Thus, the distance covered by Irana in 2 hours = 10 × 2 = 20 miles

Hence,  the distance between their houses = distance covered by Doreen in 2 hours + distance covered by Irana in 2 hours

= 18 + 20

= 38 miles

Michael is making a card for his dad's birthday. He's shaded a triangular section on the card where he wants to write his dad a
artcher [175]

Answer:

Option C (72)

Step-by-step explanation:

In the figure attached we can see a rectangle ABCD with length 12 cm and width 9 cm.

A  triangle PEF with height BE and base EF.

Since side AE = 3 cm, so side EB = EC = 9 - 3 = 6cm

and EF = AD = 12 cm

Now we will find the area of of the parts of the card that are not shaded.

Area of parts that are not shaded = Area of rectangle - area of shaded triangle

= (12×9) -

= 108 -

Option c) 72 cm² is the area of non shaded part.

Hope this helps!! -Mina

The perimeter of a rectangle is 72 m. The width of the rectangle is 16 m. What is the area of the rectangle?
liq [111]

Answer:

320m

Step-by-step explanation

a rectangle has four sides, two pairs of identical sides. So two sides are 16. So that adds up to 32. Perimeter is all sides added together. so it has to add up to 72. 72 minus 32 is 40, so two of the sides have to be 40. Area is length times width, so 16 times 20, which is 320.
