How many solutions does the system 2y=10x-14 and 5x-y=7 have ?

I find it of tremendous use to convert to the slope intercept form to easily visualize the lines.  The first is:
y = 5x - 7  [Dividing both sides by 2] and the second is:
-y = -5x + 7  [Subtracting 5x from each side]
y = 5x - 7 [Dividing each side by -1]

These two equations represent the same line.  If the lines were parallel, there would be no solution.  If the lines intersected, there would be only one unique solution satisfying both equations (the point of intersection).

In this case, where the two equations represent the same line, the number of solutions is infinite.

The answer is:  <span>∞

</span>

Given the function ƒ(x) = 5x2 − 9x + 18, find ƒ(3).
Crank

Answer:

f(3) = 36

Step-by-step explanation:

ƒ(x) = 5x^2 − 9x + 18

Let x =3

ƒ(3) = 5(3)^2 − 9(3) + 18

      = 5*9 -27 +18

      = 45 -27+18

      =36

Divide 7/24 by 35/48 and reduce the quotient to the lowest fraction
tiny-mole [99]
\frac{7}{24} ÷ \frac{35}{48}
Multiply \frac{7}{24} by the reciprocal of \frac{35}{48}, which is \frac{48}{35}

=\frac{7}{24} × \frac{48}{35}
=\frac{336}{840}

We can simplify it further:
The greatest common factor here is 168
\frac{336/168}{840/168}

=\frac{2}{5}

(look at image) can i get help with these two?
serg [7]

Answer:

1. x = 2, AC = 30, AB - 4

2. y = 4, AB = 34, BC = 34

Step-by-step explanation:

1. AB + BC = AC so 26 + (10 - 3x) = 14x +2 and then add 3x to both sides and subtract 2 from both sides to get x on one side and an integer on the other side which is 34 = 17x and then divide 17 from both sides to get x = 2 and then substitute x into the AC and AB equations to find the values its equal to.

2. The symbol in the given means that the two lengths are congruent which means they are equal to each other so you put the two equations equal to each other and solve for y. 9y -2 = 14 + 5y, so subtract 5y from both sides and add two to both sides to get 4y = 16 and then divide both sides by 4 to get y = 4 and then substitute in the answer to find the lengths of AB and BC.
