Let Francis's age be x and Brad's age be 3x

The Product of their ages = 154

So ,

\huge\blue{A}\red{n}\green{s}\red{w}\pink{e}\red{r}

X × 3x = 154

4x = 154

x = 154÷4

x= 36

So Francis age = 36

Brad age = 36×3 = 108

<h2><u>Question</u>:</h2>

Brad is 3 years older than Francis. The product of their ages is 154. Determine their ages.

<h2><u>Given</u>:</h2>
  • product of their ages=154
  • Brad is 3 years older than Francis
<h3><u>Let</u>:</h3>
  • Age of Francis be x
  • Age of Bard be x+3

<h2><u>Answer</u>:</h2>

<h3><u>A/Q:</u></h3>

Age of Bard× Age of Francis=154

  • x×(x+3)=154

  • x²+3x=154

Let's split 3x into +14x and -11x

  • x²+3x-154=0

  • x²+14x-11x-154=0

  • x(x+14)-11(x+14)=0

  • (x-11)(x+14)=0

  • x=11

  • x=-14

So we aren't taking ages in negetive

  • .°.x=11

As we know in starting we have take x as Financis age

  • .°. <u>Francis</u><u> age=11✔</u>

We know Brad is 3 years older than Francis

  • .°. Brad age=x+3

  • <u>Brad age=14✔</u>
