The United States has a bicameral Congress because it is a compromise between the smaller and larger states. The larger states wanted the congress to be based on population, and the smaller states wanted it based on equality.
FOUR DIFFERENCES: 1. House of Representatives is based on population, while the Senate is based on equality 2. Representatives serve for 6-year terms in the Senate, while they can only serve 2-year terms in the House of Representatives 3. You must be at least 30 years old to serve in the Senate, while the minimum age is 25 in the House of Representatives 4. In order to be a part of the Senate, you must be a citizen for at least 14 years. In order to be a part of the House or Representatives, you must be a citizen for at least 7 years.
