now what is the opposite of division? Multiplication. so times x/2 by 2 and then put (2) next to the 10. You are going to get 20 which is what x is.

$6 - \frac{x}{2}= 10$  Subtract 6 on both sides

$6-\frac{x}{2}-6=10-6$

$-\frac{x}{2}= 4$

Multiply -2 on both sides to get "x" by itself

$-\frac{x}{2} (-2) = 4(-2)$

x = -8
