Thank you for posting your question here at brainly. Based on the choices provided above the answer is "Businesses did not violate the law once it was in place." The main reason why so few violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act were brought to court was because the government was slightly corrupt, with some people in charge of prosecuting these cases "in bed" with those breaking the law.

The reason that only few of violations of Sherman Antitrust act were brought to court was that the cost involved to fight these case was on higher side and demanded a lot of time and secondly it was very unpopular among the general public.

Further Explanation:

The main working of the Sherman Antitrust act was to regulate the completion between enterprises. This act prohibited anti-competitive agreements and monopolization in the market. It prevented the attempts of artificial rising of prices by restricting supply. During the time this act was adopted, there were very few penalties imposed by the then government on trade and supply sections and monopoly was in continuous increase.

No matter what was intended to be done in regards to trade and supply industry, Sherman Antitrust Act was not very popular among the people and there were very few instances where violations under this act were brought to the court. The court cases under this act used to cost hefty amount and not only that, the cases went for long period of time sometimes years in the court to come to a settlement and people were not ready to spend both of these things. This act was also very unpopular among the people and even traders as they thought that there was no such need of that act during that time. Some people who opposed this act also have the view that this act no one will ever know the products or machines which did not even came to the market to use because of this act.

Suppose you were a typical industrial worker in the United States during the late nineteenth century. Describe the conditions un
vlada-n [284]
Working.During the Industrial Revolution, that took place in the late nineteenth century, many cities in the United States were booming with large factories that were usingnew advances in technology to expand their business. Many industrial workers now worked in factories or mines (Nash, 531).In Chicago you had the Chicago Meat Packing Industry, the largest slaughter house in the world that could now control every aspect of the meat packing industry. Over 25 thousand men, women, and children worked for the Chicago Meat Packing Industry. Processing 14 million animals a year (BOA Episode 14). With advances in shipping methods, and the invention of the refrigerated railroad car, an animal could now be shipped to, killed, butchered, and sent out for sale all in the slaughter house. The workers in the slaughter house were often not very skilled labors and the company took advantage of that. To keep wages and complaints low, the packing house would pick workers each morning that would come and line up, hoping for work. This meant that you never knew if you would have a job at the packing house because there was always someone else trying to take your place. The working conditions were disgusting at the packing house. In the winter time many workers would put their feet inside of a freshly killed animalto keep warm, as the factory was not heated and Chicago would become very coldin the winter months.
