Answer:

a = -2, b = 3

Parameter = 24 units

Step-by-step explanation:

According to information provided in question, opposite side is reflection of point C and D. So the distance of C to the y-axis is equal to distance of (a-2,b+1) to y-axis.

Now C = (4,4)

at C, value of x co-ordinate is 4.

So in opposite direction value of x co-ordinate is -4

Here we can equate,

a-2 = -4

a = -4+2

a = -2

But remember, there is no distance covered on y-axis through C to opposite side of y-axis,

So,

b+1 = 4

b = 4-1

b = 3

Now for parameter,

since, b+1 =4,

Notice that on lower point of (a-2,0)

y co-ordinate or ordinate is 0.

So the distance covered along y-axis is 4.

Now from point C to point (a-2,b+1), distance is covered along x-axis,

value of x co-ordinate on C is 4 and at point (a-2,b+1) value of x co-ordinate is -4 because

a-2 -4,

So total distance from point C to point (a-2,b+1) is 8 (4 to right side of y coordinate and 4 to left side of coordinate)

Now understand that two sides have length of 8 units and two sides have length of 4 units.

Parameter = sum of lengths of all sides

Parameter = 8+8+4+4

Parameter = 24 units

Need help with a math question
Svetach [21]

Answer:

(x+1)^2+(y-7)^2=8

Step-by-step explanation:

You should try the next one and I can check work or tell you if it is right.

The diameter length can be found be computing the distance that (-3,5) is to (1,9) which is sqrt(4^2+4^2)=sqrt(32).

The radius is half the diameter so it is sqrt(32)/2.

The center of the circle is the midpoint of a diameter. So compute the (Average of x, average of y)=(-1,7)

So plug into (x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2 we get

(x+1)^2+(y-7)^2=32/4

simplifying gives

(x+1)^2+(y-7)^2=8

(I had to type this twice; my cat jump on my keyboard)
