<span>In the mid-1800s, Democrats believed that a policy of Manifest Destiny meant that the United States was "destined" to expand all the way to the Pacific Ocean--which they used to justify many wars and to remove Natives from their land. </span>
It was the African Union Commonwealth that emerged in part from the Pan-African movement. I say "in part" because there was also and external pressure from the US.
