We don't need the length AND width of the square.  One number
will be enough for an answer, because all sides of a square have
the same length.  Let's call that number ' M ' (for 'mystery number').

-- The area of the square is  M² .

The question says that ...
-- The length of the rectangle is  2M .
-- The width of the rectangle is  (M - 3) .

Therefore ...
-- The area of the rectangle is  (2M)(M - 3)  =  2M² - 6M .

The question also says that ...
-- The areas of the square and the rectangle are equal:

So                                            2M² - 6M = M²

Subtract  M²  from each side:    M² - 6M = 0

Divide each side by  M :            M  -  6  =  0

Add  6  to each side :                 M  =  6 .

Check:

Assume ... Side of the square = 6

Then ...
Area of the square = 6² = 36 .
Length of the rectangle = (6 x 2) = 12
Width of the rectangle = (6 - 3) = 3
Area of the rectangle = (12 x 3) = 36

                 36  =  36                  yay!

Let r = "I like pancakes," s = "I like syrup," and t = "I like honey." Write this sentence in symbolic form: I like pancakes, an
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

r\wedge(s\oplus t)

Step-by-step explanation:

The given statements are

r = "I like pancakes," s = "I like syrup," and t = "I like honey."

Given statement is "I like pancakes, and I like syrup or honey, but not both".

We need to find a symbolic form of the given statement.

If p and q are two statements, then

p\wedge q means p and q are true.

p\oplus q means either p or q are true, but not both.

Using this symbols we can say that,

I like syrup or honey, but not both = s\oplus t

I like pancakes, and I like syrup or honey, but not both = r\wedge(s\oplus t)

Therefore the required the symbolic form is r\wedge(s\oplus t).

Data was collected for a sample of organic snacks. The amount of sugar (in mg) in each snack is summarized in the histogram belo
castortr0y [4]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

The histogram summarizes the amount of sugar in organic snacks. (mg)

Y-axis shows the number of snacks

X-axis shows the amount of sugar per snack

The first column of the histogram show that 2 snacks contain sugar between 220 and 224 mg of sugar.

The second column shows that about 3 snacks have between 224 and 228 mg of sugar.

The third column shows that 8 snacks have between 228 and 232 mg of sugar.

The fourth column shows that 12 snacks have between 232 and 236 mg of sugar.

The fifth column shows that 11 snacks have between 236 and 240 mg of sugar.

The sixth column shows that 3 snacks have between 240 and 244 mg of sugar.

The seventh column shows that 2 snacks have between 244 and 248 mg of sugar.

The total of observations is 2+3+8+12+11+3+2= 41 snacks.

I hope this helps!
