Contour lines of different elevations can never cross.
If they did, then the point where they cross would have
two different elevations.  That's silly.

A ball is dropped from 215m. How long will it take to reach the ground? Use 9.8
valkas [14]

Answer:

The time is  t = 6.62 \  s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The height of the platform where the ball was dropped from is s  =  215 m

   The acceleration due to gravity is  g  =  9.8 \  m/s^2

Generally from kinematic equations

     s =  ut + \frac{1}{2} gt^2

Here u is the initial velocity of the ball and the value is  u = 0 m/s given that the ball was at rest before it was dropped

So

     21 5 =  0 * t + \frac{1}{2} *  9.8t^2

=>  21 5 =  4.9t^2

=>   t^2  = \frac{215}{4.9}

=>  t = 6.62 \  s

An elevator accelerates upward at 2.0 m/s?,
amm1812

Answer:

Force the floor exerts on the  passenger is 833 N.

Explanation:

  • Weight of passenger (F_{g}) = mg = 85 × 9.8 N = 833 N
  • Force the floor exerts on the  passenger (F_{N}) = ?
  • For the elevator with the speed as 2.0 m/s the net force is zero, it means that the force is balanced.

                                       i.e. F_{N} = - F_{g} = -mg = 833 N

                                       hence  F_{N} is 833 N

  • If the lift was not at a constant speed i.e. if it had acceleration (m/s^{2})  then the case would be different.

Determine the mechanical energy of this object: 1-kg ball rolls on the ground at 2 m/s
Fiesta28 [93]
The potential energy would be zero. Only kinetic energy is present in this case. To find out what the answer is we do the equation: mv^2/2 soo...

KE =mv^2/2
KE= 1(2^2)/2 which the answer will come up by 2 Joules.
