A type of cellular transport is shown. Which description best identifies this type of cellular transport? Your answer: A.Osmosis
madreJ [45]

Answer:

B.Active transport, because energy is being used to move molecules against the concentration gradient

Explanation:

Substances move in and out of living cells through various transport means. Some substances move passively (without energy) while others move actively (with energy). Active transport of substances involves the movement of molecules against the concentration gradient.

Active transport moves against concentration gradient in the sense that the movement occurs from a region which is less concentrated to one which is more concentrated, hence, energy input in form of ATP is required for such transport to occur. This is the case of the cellular transport in the diagram. Therefore, it is an ACTIVE TRANSPORT because energy input (ATP) is required.

Note, Osmosis and facilitated diffusion are types of passive transport that requires no energy to occur.

How would flowering plants be affected if bees and butterflies became less common?
Blizzard [7]
Since bees and butterflies both pollen are flowers, the growth (population) of flowering plants would become less common without the pollen being spread.

What are chromatids and how do they differ from chromosomes
Molodets [167]
Chromatids are only called as chromatids when they are sister chromatids, meaning that when chromosome have two double stranded DNA attached together, each of the double stranded DNA is a sister chromatid, and while the whole thing (the two sister chromatids that are attached together) is called a chromosome.

So after the DNA has been replicated, the chromosome consist of 2 sister chromatids, attached to each other at their centromere.

Overall, sister chromatid is one of the two double stranded DNA in a replicated chromosome, and chromosome is the whole "X" shape that we see. For example, in humans, after the S phase of interphase in the cell cycle, we have 46 chromosomes, with 92 chromatids, since each chromosome is an "X" shape, by having two sister chromatids.

Hope this helps!
