Maslowich

Answer:

This excerpt from document two connects to when the abolition of slavery was truly beginning to happen. Buchanan was a democrat who morally was against slavery but seemed to think the Constitution protected the rights of slave owners. " Should it be refused, then the Constitution, to which all the States are parties, will have been willfully violated by one portion of them in a provision essential to the domestic security and happiness of the remainder" . Buchanan states simply that if the southeners are refused their " rights " to have slaves then the peace that Anti and Pro slavery people, will no longer exist.
