Kublai Khan was a Mongol great military leader, the grandson of Genghis Khan. He conquered and ruled the whole of China since 1279, founding the Yuan dynasty. He vanquished the Song dynasty.

He was quite benevolent, accomplished some great public works, and promoted religious tolerance. He relied heavily on Chinese advisors in his court.
