Universal Claims Processors processes insurance claims for large national insurance companies. Most claim processing is done by

a large pool of computer operators, some of whom are permanent and some of whom are temporary. A permanent operator can process 16 claims per day, whereas a temporary operator can process 12 per day, and on average the company processes at least 450 claims each day. The company has 40 computer workstations. A permanent operator generates about 0.5 claim with errors each day, whereas a temporary operator averages about 1.4 defective claims per day. The company wants to limit claims with errors to 25 per day. A permanent operator is paid $64 per day, and a temporary operator is paid $42 per day. The company wants to determine the number of permanent and temporary operators to hire in order to minimize costs.

Ivanshal [37]

Answer: 17.75 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

After putting soil in the first flower bed, Layla's bag was ⅝ full. The pound of soil will be: = 5/8 × 10 = 6.25 pounds

Eliana's bag was ⅖ full. The pound of soil will be: = 2/5 × 10 = 4 pounds

Nature's bag was ¾ full. The pound of soil will be: = 3/4 × 10 = 30/4 = 7.5 pounds

The number of pounds of soil that they put in the first flower bed altogether will be:

= 6.25 + 4 + 7.5

= 17.75 pounds

A company is expanding its building area from 14,000 square feet to 19,880 square feet. What is the percentage increase of the a
Stella [2.4K]
I remember I had a lot of trouble with this in geometry! This is a matter of ratios and division. You can grab a calculator and divide 19,880 by 14,000 (because the building increased, and you’re seeing how much bigger it is than the original). We can also do it by hand...

19880/14000
1988/1400 (divide by 10)
994/700 (divide by 2)
142/100 (divide by 7)
142% is your answer. The 100% implies you made another building, so the real answer is that the building size increased by 42% (since you already have the 14000 sqft building)

42%
