It is believed that the tilapia fish was introduced into the mangrove system by escaping from fisheries and aquariums by accident, but this species is also used to control the population of mosquitos to prevent outbreaks of malaria and other invasive species on which they feed.
The tilapia are highly tolerant and easily adaptable to different conditions in the mangrove ecosystem and they are highly efficient predators. This often makes them more successful in the environments where they are introduced than the indigenous species, which results in disruption of the food chain.
The negative human impact on mangroves disrupts the balance in the mangrove ecosystems, weakening the populations of different species that originate from mangrove forests. This leaves more space and resources to be exploited by the tilapia.
The strategies to control tilapia in mangrove ecosystems focus on restoring the habitat and strengthening the populations of indigenous species while decreasing the numbers of tilapia.
The species can be eradicated by selective overfishing of the species or by introducing another species into the habitat which is a natural enemy of the tilapia.

What evidence do paleobotanists look for that indicates the movement of plants from water to land?
attashe74 [19]

The evidence that paleobotanists look for that indicates the movement of plants from water to land is the possession of waxy cuticle to decrease evaporation from leaves.

What are some adaptations of plants on land compared to water?

Plants possess various adaptive features which enables them to survive on land or in water.

Plants that are found in water are known as aquatic plants. They possess features which enable them to get rid of excess water as well as to stay afloat on water. For example, their leaves are waxy to enable them remain afloat.

Plants found on land are terrestrial plants and possess features that enable them survive on land. They possess features which prevent excessive water loss such as waxy cuticle.

Therefore, the evidence that paleobotanists look for that indicates the movement of plants from water to land is the possession of waxy cuticle to decrease evaporation from leaves.

In conclusion, plants show adaptations as they moved from water to land.

What would happen if plants could not produce glucose.
Serggg [28]

A plant that is unable to produce glucose will likely die.

WHAT IS PHOTOSYNTHESIS?

Photosynthesis is the process whereby green plants obtain their food using energy from sunlight.

The food molecules are in the form of an organic compound called glucose. The glucose is the source of energy for living cells.

This means that if a plant cell is unable to produce glucose, the plant will likely die because there is no source of energy for metabolic activities.

The chloroplasts of flowering land plants typically contain at least two photosynthetic pigments
SashulF [63]

Answer:

Chlorophyll A, and B.

Explanation:

Chlorophyll is known as the green pigment which is present in plants. Through the process of photosynthesis, It helps to convert solar light into useful energy. They have light absorption properties, so they are known as photoreceptors. Mainly two types of Chlorophyll are present in plants:

Chlorophyll A: It Is known as the primary photosynthetic pigment and has the ability to absorbs red, blue, and violet lights. Chlorophyll A is the location of the photochemical processes and can absorb light which is needed for the process of photosynthesis.

Chlorophyll B: It mainly helps to absorb blue light which is utilized to fill out the absorption of chlorophyll A it means it helps to supply additional light energy to chlorophyll A. It is known as the accessory pigment.
