One issue with cloned plants is that they are all the same. Yes, they may all yield the same delicious corn- but if one thing goes wrong, that would be detrimental.

What if that one clone population of corn was weak against one type of mold, for example? If that mold was able to infect just one- it'll eventually spread like wildfire to all the other clone plants & wipe out an entire crop.

That would be a huge waste of money, time, resources &, most saddening of all: no corn...

So, the answer choice should be C.

Hope that helps!

Which process takes CO2 out of the atmosphere
mihalych1998 [28]

Answer:

Photosynthesis removes CO2 from the atmosphere and replaces it with oxygen.

Explanation:

Photosynthesis removes CO2 from the atmosphere and replaces it with oxygen. By respiration, O2 is removed from the atmosphere and replaced with CO2. However, these processes are not balanced. Some organic matter is not oxidized. (I'm very sorry if I'm wrong but I believe it's that)

if the following graph represents the decay of strontium-90 in an igneous rock, what event occurred at 0 years on the horizontal
kodGreya [7K]

Answer:

At 0 years, an event took place which is known as metamorphosis of igneous rock i.e., formation of igneous rocks from melted magma.

Strontium-90 is a radioactive element which undergoes beta decay to form yttrium-90. It has a half life of approximately 28 years and decay energy of 0.546 MeV. This radioactivity is used by geologist to estimate the age of the rock, fossils, meteorites etc. Other radioactive elements used by the geologists are carbon-40, potassium-40 etc.

Radiometric clock is set when the rock was formed in the past i.e., the moment when an ingenious rock was solidified from molten magma.

Briefly explain why only chromosomes of a homologous pair can have their alleles referred toas homozygous or heterozygous
tatuchka [14]

This is due to the fact that only homologous chromosomes would have identical genes located at identical sites on those chromosomes. Otherwise, there would be no connection between the alleles of various genes.

Although the genes and loci of the two members of the homologous pair are similar, the alleles may vary. For instance, both allele possess the genes responsible for the attribute of eye colour. While the one has alleles for the blue-eye trait, other has alleles for the brown-eye trait. The homologous chromosomes are said to be heterozygous in this instance since the alleles are different.

On the other hand, when both alleles for a gene that codes for the blue-eye phenotype are present, it is said to be homozygous.
