So I have to find the area but don’t understand, anyone cares to explain?

When looking at the figure you can notice that it is a composite figure. This means you can find basic figures that combined to make this figure within the shape. When solving this it would be quite difficult to not break up the shape into a more basic form. Since it is clear that their is rectangles within the shape you will use the formula area = length x width. Split the shape into a simple form and solve for each pf their areas, then add all the areas together for the total. The top rectangles-> a=7x20=140 Middle shape->a=12*26=312 Bottom shape->a=35*13=455 total area=907
