Then the mothers would point to the baby's reflection in the mirror and ask who the mirror was. The researchers watched the babies' behavior during the tests.

Only babies ages 20-24 could recognize themselves in the mirror. These babies pointed to the red spot on their own noses. This strongly suggests that they recognized the image as their own, became aware of self, so much so that they pointed to the roaring stain on their own noses.

Accordingly, we can see that when Lia touches the red spot on her nose she is demonstrating that developing self-awareness.
