Answer:

A: Some energy will be used to do work and some will be lost as heat.

Explanation:

According to the second law of thermodynamics, none of the processes of energy transformation is 100% efficient. The part of the energy is always converted into unusable form and is lost as heat.

Consumption of food includes process of cellular respiration to obtain energy from nutrients. However, part of the energy of nutrients is lost as metabolic heat and rest are stored in the form of ATPs.

Example: during cellular respiration, only 40% energy of a glucose molecule is stored in form of ATPs and rest 60% is lost as heat.

Zanzabum

The correct option is (D) Nucleotide variability and average heterozygosity

The higher the proportion of loci that are "fixed" in a population, the lower are that population's nucleotide variability and average heterozygosity.

What does it indicate when a gene in a population is fixed?

 • In population genetics, fixation is the transformation of a gene pool from one in which at least two alleles of a certain gene exist in a given population to one in which only one allele persists.
 • Any allele must eventually be lost entirely from the population or fixed (permanently established at 100% frequency in the population) in the absence of mutation or the heterozygote advantage.
 • Selection coefficients and random variations in allelic proportions determine whether a gene will ultimately be lost or fixed. Fixation may relate to a specific nucleotide location in the DNA chain or a gene in general (locus).

Mama L [17]
Women who take folic acid pills during pregnancy have about half the probability of having a child with autism as compared to other women. Autism is a range of conditions that are characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and non verbal communications, as well as by unique strengths and differences. Folic acid is very important as it helps the body make healthy new cells.

Which of these is a provisioning service— a benefit that is obtained directly from the environment?
dsp73

I believe it is either B or A, personally i'm leaning towards B, but at the same time, i don't think that we would be obtaining materials via pollination, so it then causes A to make more sense.
