What is the value of x?

Mathematics

Since angle x and the angle measure given are on the same line, they have to add up to 180 degrees. So, to start this problem, take what is given and set it equal to 180 degrees.

x - 36 + x = 180

Now simplify the equation.

x - 36 + x = 180   ******* Add 36 to both sides.

x + x = 216          ******* Now add together the x's

2x = 216              ******* Divide both sides by 2.

x = 108

108 degrees is your answer, but you should still go back and check your work. Plug in the value of x to see if it works in the equation.

x - 36 + x = 180 **** plug in 108 for x

108 - 36 + 108 = 180 ****** simplify to see if it equals 180

72 + 108 = 180

180 = 180

******** This answer does work because when x is plugged back into the equation, both sides are equal. **********************************************

x = 108 degrees

Below are two different functions, f(x) and g(x). What can be determined about their y-intercepts?
ollegr [7]

D-cannot be determined. g(x) is a vertical function, which is not a function. You cannot have the same x-value repeated. Because of this, g(x) has no y-intercept, and the relationship cannot be determined

The length (L) of a rectangle of fixed area varies inversely as the width (W). If the
Neporo4naja [7]

Answer:

Length of the rectangle is 18 ft when its width is 4ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us assume that the length is represented by l.

Let us assume that the width is represented by w.

As given

The length of the rectangle varies inversely with its width.

Thus

L x 1/w

l=k/w

Where k is the constant of proportionality .

As given

If the

length of the rectangle is 6 feet when the width is 12 feet,

l=6, w=12

putting the values in l = k/w

6 = k/12

k = 12 x 6

k=72

As given

width is 4ft

k= 72, w = 4

Putting the values in, L = k/w

                                   L= 72/4

                                    L=18 ft

Therefore the  length of the rectangle is 18 ft when its width is 4ft

Hope this helps You

Add or Subtract to Simplify:<br> (4x - 2x3) + (5x3 - 4x + 5)
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

<h2>3x³ + 5</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

( 4x - 2x³ ) + ( 5x³ - 4x + 5)

<u>Remove the parenthesis</u>

That's

4x - 2x³ + 5x³ - 4x + 5

<u>Group like terms</u>

We have

5x³ - 2x³ + 4x - 4x + 5

We have the final answer as

<h3>3x³ + 5</h3>

Hope this helps you

Suppose that each child born is equally likely to be a boy or a girl. Consider a family with exactly three children. Let BBG ind
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

(a)

S = \{GGG, GGB, GBG, GBB, BBG, BGB, BGG, BBB\}

(b)

i.

1\ girl = \{GBB, BBG, BGB\}

P(1\ girl) = 0.375

ii.

Atleast\ 2 \ girls = \{GGG, GGB, GBG, BGG\}

P(Atleast\ 2 \ girls) = 0.5

iii.

No\ girl = \{BBB\}

P(No\ girl) = 0.125

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Children = 3

B = Boys

G = Girls

Solving (a): List all possible elements using set-roster notation.

The possible elements are:

S = \{GGG, GGB, GBG, GBB, BBG, BGB, BGG, BBB\}

And the number of elements are:

n(S) = 8

Solving (bi) Exactly 1 girl

From the list of possible elements, we have:

1\ girl = \{GBB, BBG, BGB\}

And the number of the list is;

n(1\ girl) = 3

The probability is calculated as;

P(1\ girl) = \frac{n(1\ girl)}{n(S)}

P(1\ girl) = \frac{3}{8}

P(1\ girl) = 0.375

Solving (bi) At least 2 are girls

From the list of possible elements, we have:

Atleast\ 2 \ girls = \{GGG, GGB, GBG, BGG\}

And the number of the list is;

n(Atleast\ 2 \ girls) = 4

The probability is calculated as;

P(Atleast\ 2 \ girls) = \frac{n(Atleast\ 2 \ girls)}{n(S)}

P(Atleast\ 2 \ girls) = \frac{4}{8}

P(Atleast\ 2 \ girls) = 0.5

Solving (biii) No girl

From the list of possible elements, we have:

No\ girl = \{BBB\}

And the number of the list is;

n(No\ girl) = 1

The probability is calculated as;

P(No\ girl) = \frac{n(No\ girl)}{n(S)}

P(No\ girl) = \frac{1}{8}

P(No\ girl) = 0.125
