Easy to Find, a computer data base, charges $30/h during peak hours to access its records. The charge during off-peak hours is $

12/h. Indigo Research was billed $876.00 last month for 40 hours of access time. Using a system of equations, find the number of hours charged for usage during peak times.

P + o = 40                    (where p = peak and o= off-peak)
30p + 12o = 876
This can be done using elimination or substitution.
I will do elimination.

Multiply the first equation by -12. This will 'eliminate' the variable o.
-12p -12o = - 480
30p + 12o = 876

Now add the two equations together.
18p = 396
Divide both sides by 18
p = 22
40 - 22 = 18
Peak hrs. = 22
Off-Peak = 18
CHECK 22(30) + 18(12) = $876

Find the remainder when x51+x is divided by x+1
kaheart [24]

Answer:

-2

Step-by-step explanation:

By definition, the remainder is the portion of the dividend that is not evenly divisible by the divisor. Basically, it is what's left over. In this case, -2 is the amount left over after dividing this equation.

1. A catering company’s recipe for salad uses a ratio of 2 c of dressing to 4 lb of vegetables. (a) Draw a model for the ratio.
IRISSAK [1]
1. ratio = 2 c of dressing / 4 lb of vegetables

Use two variables: d for the number of c of dressing and v for the number of pounds of vegetables.

Then d / v = 2/4 = 1/2 => d = v/2

Now you can make a table

v     d

2    1

4    2

6    3

8    2

And you can draw a line for the points (2,1); (4,2); (6,3), (8,4) ... the slope of the graph is the ratio = 1/2

b) I already did it above as part ot the explanation: d/v = 1/2
