How did the crop lien system continue to drive farmers into debt

When the Civil War came to an end, the economy in the South was a shambles. Farmers did not have much in the way of cash and cotton prices were rock-bottom. This system gave both black and white farmers a way to receive credit in the months before planting. Some years, there was enough money to pay the debts and leave the farmer a little seed money for the next year, but in other years, prices were so low that the debt was not fully paid and farmers still owed at the beginning of the next growing season. Because cotton was the only crop that paid well at all, many merchants insisted that the sharecroppers who were in their debt grow it. Cotton is particularly hard on the soil, and the areas that sharecroppers used over and over lost their fertility. When prosperity hit the country at the end of World War II, the system ended, with many farmers leaving their pastures for new city jobs.Hope this answer helps! feel free to ask any additional questions :)

What result did Lincoln want to encourage with the Emancipation Proclamation?
Mashutka [201]

Answer:

Explanation:

The Emancipation Proclamation didn’t actually free all of the slaves. Since Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation as a military measure, it didn’t apply to border slave states like Delaware, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri, all of which were loyal to the Union.

The Emancipation Proclamation did more than lift the war to the level of a crusade for human freedom. It brought some substantial practical results, because it allowed the Union to recruit black soldiers. To this invitation to join the army the blacks responded in considerable numbers, nearly 180,000

Lunar phases only happen once every 28 Earth days and occur as a full moon.
chubhunter [2.5K]

your answer is true because

The apparent size of the Moon varies because the orbit of the Moon is elliptical, and as a consequence at one time it is nearer to the Earth (perigee) than half an orbit later (apogee). The orbital period of the Moon from perigee to apogee and back to perigee is called the anomalistic month.

The appearance, or phase, of the Moon is due to its motion with respect to the Sun. It varies in a period of time called a lunation, also called synodic month; its duration is about 2 days longer than an anomalistic month. The age is the number of days since new moon.[1]
