The appropriate choice is ...

... On Line 3, Brianna should have divided by 0.1 instead of subtracting 0.1.

_____

Had Brianna simplified her effort properly on line 4, she would have

... -0.1 +0.1x = -1.4

putting her essentially back where she started—with a 2-step equation.

Comparing Functions: Mastery Test
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

Table 3 has a greater y intercept

Step-by-step explanation:

See attachment (1) & (2) for graph and tables

First, we have to determine the y intercept of the graph

The y intercept of any graph or table is the corresponding value of a point where x = 0

In the attached graph.

x = 0 when y = 4

So:

y\ intercept = 4

Next, we determine the y intercept of each table.

Recall that: The y intercept of any graph or table is the corresponding value of a point where x = 0

For table 1:

y\ intercept = 3

For table 2:

y\ intercept = 2

For table 3:

y\ intercept = 5

By comparison, the y intercepts of tables (1) & (2) are less than the y intercept of the graph because: 3 and 2 are less than 4

However, the y intercept of table 3 is greater than the y intercept of the graph because 5 is greater than 4.

<em>Hence, table 3 has a greater y intercept</em>

Determine the projection of vector w onto vector u. u=9i-6j, v=-3i-2j, w=19i+15j
Naily [24]

Answer:

proj_uw=6.2i-4.2j

Step-by-step explanation:

The projection of a vector v onto a vector u is defined as the projection of the vector v on the line that contains the vector u. It can be calculated  using the following formula:

proj_uv=\frac{u\cdot v}{||u||^2} u

Where:

u\cdot v

Is the dot product between u and v which is given by:

u\cdot v= $$\sum_{i=1}^{n} u_iv_i= u_1v_1+u_2v_2+...+u_nv_n$$

and:

||u||

Is the magnitude of vector which can be calculated as follows:

||u||=\sqrt{u_1^2+u_2^2+...+u_n^2}

In this sense, the projection of vector w onto vector u is:

proj_uw=\frac{u\cdot w}{||u||^2} u

Where the dot product between u and w is:

u\cdot w =(9*19)+(-6*15)=171-90=81

And the magnitude of u is:

||u||=\sqrt{9^2+(-6)^2} = 3 \sqrt{13}

Thus:

proj_uw=\frac{u\cdot w}{||u||^2} u=\frac{81}{117} \langle9,-6\rangle=\langle6.23,-4.15\rangle\approx6.2i-4.2j

Why do you need to find common denominators simplify your equation
Daniel [21]
Finding common denominators allows you to more easily get your answer for the problem.  fractions are complex as it is  if you have a denominator of 16 and 4 your immediate reaction would be to just subtract the process and answer would be completely wrong.
